The 2004 vintage
of Blue Rock Vineyard produced outstanding wines that are among our
favorites. These complex wines possess finesse, depth, and great
texture.
This wine
certainly ranks among the most powerful, rich and balanced Cabernets
that we have made. It is both elegant and solidly proportioned. This
very aromatic and beautiful wine calls upon aromas of black currant,
lead pencil, coco, and well-integrated vanilla notes. It is rich and
silky, with sweet ripe tannins and a solid core that begs for some
bottle age.
The
flavors are consistent with the nose having deep red and black fruit
flavors, well-integrated oak, great balance and refinement. There is a
fine persistence of flavor that is long lasting. It is delicious now but
will gain complexity and finesse with time. Expected maturity 2008
through 2015.

Our fourth
vintage of Syrah is our most elegant ever! This wine emphasizes grace
and complexity rather than heavy extraction. It is beautifully balanced
with fine tannins and a great sense of polish. It has wonderful Syrah
character and is more Northern Rhone in style with smoked meat,
pomegranate, and black currant aromas; The flavors are consistent with
the nose with complex black cherry as well as gamy/earthy flavors. Due
to the soft tannins it can be enjoyed upon release but will improve for
another 5 years.
